Alternatives for being it / Alternativas para ser it

Everybody knows that being fashion is not simple and is very (sometimes, extremely) expensive. Besides, people are not content with any clothes: as fashionists, they want designer clothes. Of course, if you want to fill your closet with these unique items, you’ll have to save money for quite a long time, even more if you are from Mendoza.

Maybe, money is not the problem, but where to find them. Exclusive designer clothes shops (like Louis Vuitton, Hermès, Salvatore Ferragamo, D&G) are, at least here in Latin America, only in important cities. So, if you live in a place like Mendoza, you may have to travel somewhere else to get what you want.

As I mentioned before, designer clothes are unique. In other words, they are irreplaceable. But, what happens when you face the problems pointed out in the previous paragraphs? Do you quit? I’d suggest not to…

Some brands of our malls offer a wide range of designs; so, why don’t you pick an outfit that suits you and try to find something similar?

For example, as you already know, the full denim outfit is the new it for this season. Dolce & Gabbana, Dirk Bikkembergs, and Kenzo were some of the designers who chose this fabric for the spring-summer 2010 season.

Now, I’ll show how you can get a full denim outfit very similar to the one showed in the D&G runway.

Todos sabemos que estar a la moda no es simple y que es muy caro (a veces, demasiado). Además, la gente no se conforma con cualquier prenda: como fashionistas, prefieren ropa de diseñador. Por supuesto, si querés llenar tu closet de estas piezas únicas, vas a tener que ahorrar un buen tiempo, aún más si vivís en Mendoza.

Quizás, cuando el dinero no es un problema, dónde encontrarlos se convierte en uno. Las tiendas de diseñadores exclusivos (como Louis Vuitton, Hermès, Salvatore Ferragamo, D&G) se encuentran, por lo menos en Latinoamérica, sólo en ciudades importantes. De manera que, si vivís en una ciudad como ésta, quizás tengas que viajar a otro lugar para encontrar aquello que tanto deseas.

Como dije antes, cada prenda de diseñador es única. En otras palabras, es irremplazable. Pero, ¿qué sucede cuando nos enfrentamos a los dos problemas mencionados en los párrafos anteriores? ¿Abandonás en el intento? Yo sugeriría que no lo hicieras…

Algunas marcas que tienen tiendas en nuestros centros comerciales ofrecen una amplia variedad de diseños; entonces, ¿por qué no elegir un outfit de diseñador que te guste y tratar de buscar algo parecido?

Por ejemplo, como ya sabés, el "jean con jean" es lo it de esta temporada. Dolce & Gabbana, Dirk Bikkembergs y Kenzo son algunos de los diseñadores que eligieron esta tela para la temporada primaver-verano 2010.

Ahora te voy a mostrar cómo podés tener un outfit de “jean con jean” muy similar al que se mostró en la pasarela de D&G.

ALAMEDA ALAMODA

This is one of the many fairs that Mendoza has. It was held on Saturday afternoon at Alameda promenade. As its name suggests, the spot light falls on fashion items; that is: clothing, accessories, and even footwear. The products include even some robot-like cuddly toys, very original and friendly.

I attended with great expectations, but it wasn’t as big as I had imagined. Anyway, the independent designer products were very good and, some of them, surprising too, without mentioning that the designers were all very kind and nice.

There were almost thirty stands in total with a wide variety of products. The great majority of them exhibited clothing and accessories. What I found remarkable about it was the relatively low price of the clothes. It was really affordable! Besides, I noticed that, in general, the making was good as well as the fabric. Concerning the printed patterns, there was some animal print (like leopard) and navy style stripes. Of course, for welcoming spring, it was full of flower print! In red, pink, blue, every colour! There were also some ethnic cloths, as it is one of the main actors of this summer-spring season.

Es una de las varias ferias de Mendoza y se realizó el sábado por la tarde en el paseo Alameda. Como su nombre lo indica, está enfocada en artículos “a la moda”; ya sea indumentaria, accesorios o calzado. Tal es la variedad que hasta se podían encontrar peluches-robot muy originales y simpáticos.

Fui con grandes expectativas, pero la feria no era tan grande como yo esperaba. De todos modos, los productos de los diseñadores independientes eran muy buenos y, algunos, sorprendentes; sin mencionar que todos los diseñadores fueron re atentos y sociables.

Había cerca de 30 stands en total con gran variedad de productos y en la gran mayoría se exhibían accesorios e indumentaria. Lo que me llamó mucho la atención fue el precio relativamente bajo de los artículos. ¡Eran realmente accesibles! Además, pude notar que en general la confección era buena al igual que las telas. Teniendo en cuenta los estampados, había algo de animal print (como leopardo) y de rayas estilo navy. Por supuesto, para darle la bienvenida a la primavera, ¡estaba repleto de estampados con flores! Rojas, rosadas, azules, ¡en todos los colores! También habían algunas telas étnicas, ya que forman parte de los protagonistas de esta temporada primavera-verano.

mendoza it es un blog, principalmente, de moda. De todas maneras, no se trata solamente de ropa fashion y los must de cada temporada. Se trata de todo lo que se considera it en esta ciudad (obviamente, desde un punto de vista muy subjetivo). En otras palabras, se trata de lo que está in, lo que está out y todo lo que se viene.

Este blog tiene una particularidad: está orientado tanto a hablantes de inglés como de español; de modo que lenguaje no se convierta en un obstáculo entre vos y la moda.

Indumentaria, diseñadores independientes, tiendas, desfiles, eventos, tendencias, restaurantes y todo lo it en un solo lugar.
